Historical Background of the Course

The Course of Journalism and Mass Communication was introduced as a UGC Innovative programme in the year 2007 in the name of Development Journalism & Electronic Communication. The nomenclature of the said Programme had been changed to Masters’ Programme in Journalism and Mass Communication (MJMC) in Self Financing Mode with effect from the year 2016.

Vision

  • The department aspires to set regional and national standards in the domain of mass communication towards the dissemination of media education, media ethics, research and training. The use of state-of-the-art technology-driven knowledge-based society, in turn, desires to contribute to the terrain of human development and just information at the fingertips of the common man in an equitable manner.

Mission

  • To empower the students to be a part of the participatory democracy anchored by the values of pluralism, universalism and ethics, while observing the strands of freedom of speech and expression as markers of academic deliberation and setting examples in the society at large.

Goal

To create a dynamic learning environment that promotes the exchange of ideas and nurtures young brains laced with creativity towards research and scholastic sphere shaping future leaders and innovators of communication and mass media.
