- Prof. Mohanty joined the Department in 1981 as a Lecturer and superannuated as a Professor in 2018. During the 37 long years of teaching and research, he has successfully guided 35 Ph. D. students and 46 M Phil students in the field of Cytogenetics, published 33 books, 143 peer-reviewed research papers in national and international journals of repute, 492 popular science articles and 77 conference papers. He is an able orator, especially for students of all age groups. Prof. Mohanty has received 12 awards from diverse organisations including Bronze Jubilee Award by Bigyan Prachar Samiti (1992), Dr P K Parija Science and Communication Award by DST, Govt. of Odisha (2001), 6 th Rajdhani Bookfair Award (2005), Dr. Gopinanth Parasd Mohanty award (2006), among others.
