UDTE is located in DDCE campus of Utkal University, Vani Vihar. The Department runs two year B.Ed. and two year M.Ed. programmes with an intake capacity of 50 seats each. The Department has started functioning with due recognition of NCTE, New Delhi and approval of Govt. of Odisha in the Department of Higher Education with effect from the academic session 2019-20. A Professor-cum-Principal is in position to lead the academic and administrative works of the Department along with faculty members and non-teaching staff members. A coordinator in the rank of Professor is the channel of communication between UDTE and the University. The Department running under the overall supervision of Chairperson, P.G. Council is ultimately accountable to the Vice-Chancellor, Utkal University for all its omissions and commissions. The prescribed syllabus of Utkal University as designed by the Directorate of Teacher Education & SCERT and approved by the Board of Studies in Education of the University is followed in UDTE. The courses implemented in the Department are of regular nature in self-financing mode.
