Professor (Dr.) Basudeb Sahoo

Professor Basudeb Sahoo joined the Orissa Education Service in 1959 as a Lecture in Economics. During 1977-1982, he was with the faculty of the Department of Applied Economics, Utkal University, Bhubaneswar. Thereafter, He served as Professor of Economics at Ravenshaw College, Cuttack, Gangadhar Meher College, Sambalpur and Khallikote College, Berhampur. He superannuated as a Professor of Economics from Nabakrushna Chaudhury Centre for Development Studies, Bhubaneswar in 1993. Professor Sahoo has published 28 books and over 70 research articles. Besides, he was immensely contributed to Oriya literature in the form of poems, stories, novels, travelogues, translations, essays and biographies. In recognition of his excellence in Oriya literature, he was conferred with the Orissa Sahitya Academy Award for his travelogue Americare kichi din. He had edited two journals- Vision research a quarterly in social sciences and kranti Path an Oriya quarterly. He had successfully guided 25 scholars at the doctoral level.
