- Born on 3 rd April 1950, Prof. Guru joined the Department as a Lecturer in 6 th July 1979 and superannuated on April 2010 as a Professor during which he dealt with Environmental Biology, Bio-statistics, Bio-chemistry and Animal Morphology to Master’s students. His research interest included ecology of soil micro-arthropods, Protozoa, Earthworms, Sericulture and Wildlife. He has produced 22 M Phil, 29 Ph D and 2 D Sc students with a total of 46 international, 95 national and 30 conference proceeding papers, two edited books and two research projects. With memberships of half a dozen academic organizations, Prof. Guru visited Hungary and Germany. Five species are named after him that recognizes his contribution.
- In addition to the academic excellence, he has served the university as Director, Student’s Welfare; Controller of Examinations; Director, DDCE; Registrar, member of the Senate, Academic Council and Secretary, Sports Council.
