Born on 23rd September 1956 at Bhubaneswar, he completed M. Sc. and Ph.D. Degree in Botany from Berhampur University in 1977 and 1983, respectively. Dr. Mishra joined as Assistant Professor of Plant Physiology at Rajasthan Agricultural University where he worked from 1982-87. He joined as Lecturer in Botany in the P.G. Department of Botany, Utkal University in 1987 and subsequently became senior lecturer. He joined as Professor at F. M. University, Balasore during 2006. He had served as a researcher and teacher at various National and International Institutes/Universities such as Sambalpur University, JNU, Rajasthan Agriculture University, Utkal University, Fakir Mohan University, Pune University, Central University of Jharkhand, Imperial College, AFRC-IGER, Wales University, Geneva University, Osaka University, Tokyo University and University Nevada etc. Besides these, you have research collaborations with Academy, Institutes and Universities within and out-side the country, spanning more than 15 countries across the world.
He has significantly contributed in the field of Photosynthesis and stress adaptation of plants and gave a new dimensions of ‘Luminescence signatures and signals in plants using techniques like absorption, fluorescence, thermo-luminescence, Positron annihilation spectroscopy, fast Chl fluorescence and PAM Chl fluorescence etc. He has supervised more than 12 Ph.D. students and published above 150 research papers and review articles in highly cited journals and books. He was awarded with many honours, awards and Fellowships by various Societies/ Academies.
