Dr. P K Meher:
the field of VLSI chip design and computer applications. He has the unique
experience of teaching and research in Physics, Electronics, and Computer
Engineering for more than 35 years. He started his teaching career as a
Lecturer in Physics in 1981 and worked in various government colleges in
Odisha till 1993. Thereafter he served the Berhampur University,
Berhampur, Odisha as a Reader in Electronics during 1993- 1997. He
joined the Department of Computer Science & Applications in Utkal
University as the first Professor in March 1997 and has served as Head of the Department during
1997-1999. He had started the Five Year Integrated MCA course in Utkal University as its first Coordinator
in the year 1999.
mentoring to several doctoral and post-doctoral candidates. Recently, he has co-edited a book,
‘Arithmetic Circuits for DSP Applications’ which is published by the IEEE Press. He was conferred with
the Samanta Chandrasekhar Award for Research in Engineering & Technology, for the year 1999.
Some of his other recognitions include the Best Paper Award of the Springer Journal of Circuits,
Systems and Signal Processing for the year 2013 and the Sydney R. Parker Best Paper Award for the
year 2016.
Circuits, Systems, and Signal Processing. As a speaker of the Distinguished Lecturer Program of IEEE
Circuits & Systems Society, he has delivered talks in India and several other countries. Dr. Meher is a
Life Fellow of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, India and a Senior
Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) from 2003. He was elected as a
Fellow of the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE), UK, in 2004. He was registered as a Chartered
Engineer in the Engineering Council of UK in the year 2005.
