Dr. Upendra Nath Dash joined the Department as Reader in Chemistry in 1985. Prior to joining the Department, he served in various Government Colleges of the state as Lecturer/Reader in Chemistry. He completed his M.Sc. from Ravenshaw College in 1970, Ph.D. in 1980 (IIT, Kharagpur), and D.Sc. in 1999 (Utkal University). He served as the head of the department from 01.06.1999 to 31.05.2002 and Coordinator/ Director of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Utkal University) from July 2000 to April 2003.
His research area is mainly electrochemistry. Prof. Dash has successfully guided more 30 Ph.D. students and published 190 papers in national and international journals.
Prof. Dash has authored as many as 16 books and has been a reviewer of many national and international journals. Prof. Dash held the position of Editor-CumTreasurer of the Journal of Teaching and Research in Chemistry since 1994 and still continuing. He has been awarded the Professor T. L. Ramachar Award for the best research paper published in the Indian Journal of Electrochemistry in 1989.
He retired as a Professor of Chemistry in April 2003. After retirement, he worked as a Professor of Chemistry at ITER, SOA University, Bhubaneswar for almost 10 years. He is still enjoying teaching chemistry at different institutes located in and around Bhubaneswar.
