  • Born in 1952, Prof. A. K. Patra started his professional career in Government Colleges of Odisha as a Lecturer, joined the Department of Zoology in 1987 and superannuated as a Professor in 2012 after which he served as an emeritus Professor during 2012-14. With a specialization in Fishery Science and Environmental Biology, Prof. Patra executed five research projects from various agencies, supervised 51 Ph D and two D Sc students, published 103 research papers and authored two academic and 20 literary books. Besides, he has organized five conferences and presented 45 papers in various national and international conferences. An active member of several academic societies, he served as the Director of UDPS, Course Coordinator of M Sc in Fishery Science and lead the University team thrice for National Youth Festivals. At present, Prof. Patra is active in radio/TV debates and writes on various issues of life sciences.
