Prof. A C Das

Dr. Anadi Charan Dash joined the Department as Lecturer in Physical Chemistry on 6 July, 1968 after serving about four years as Lecturer in Ravenshaw College, Cuttack. He became Reader in 1983, Professor in 1990 and served as Head of the Department during 1992 – 1994. He completed M. Sc. from Ravenshaw College, Cuttack in 1964 and Ph. D. from the Utkal University in 1974. Dr. Dash was a visiting Lecturer to State University of New York at Buffalo, U. S. A. in the year 1980. His research activities include chemical Dynamics and Mechanisms of reactions. Prof. Dash has published more than 200 research papers in well cited National/International Journals, 3 reviews and guided 15 students leading to Ph. D. degree from Utkal University. In recognition of his teaching career he received the Dr. V. S. R. Gupta ”Best Teacher Award’ of the Odisha Chemical Society in 2001. Prof. Dash has undertaken several research projects funded by DAE, DST, CSIR, UGC as Principal Investigator. He visited Russia as a delegate of the 15 members team for the Indo-Russia Scientific and Cultural Exchange program sponsored by the U.G.C. and National Academy of Science in 1993. He was the Coordinator of the DRS program supported by the U.G.C. in the initial phase and served as a DST-PAC committee member in Inorganic Chemistry for three years. He is a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Science, Bangalore, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (C.Chem., FRSC.), and a Member of the American Chemical Society. He continues as a Fellow of the Indian Chemical Society, a Member of the Chemical Research Society, India, a Member of Surface Science and Technology, India, and a member of Odisha Bigyan Academy. In recognition of his lifetime achievements and contributions, he was honoured by the Odisha Bigyan Academy in 2007. He superannuated from active service in March, 2001. After retirement, he was CSIR-Emeritus Scientist for 5 years (2001- 2005) in the Department and visiting Honorary Professor at the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar from August 2007 – May 2009. He served as the president of the Orissa Chemical Society in the year 2011. Prof. Dash visits the Department frequently and actively participates in many academic  programmes.
