Born on 1st July, 1953 in the village Kantilo, the then Dist. Puri. He passed his Matriculation in Neelamadhab Vidyapitha, Kantilo in the year 1971 and graduated from S.C.S. College, Puri standing first in first class in 1975 and passed M.Sc. in Botany in the First class securing third position from P.G. Department of Botany, Vani Vihar in 1977. Joined as Lecturer in Basic Science College under OUAT, Bhubaneswar. Before joining as a lecturer in Department of Botany, Vani Vihar, he has also worked in Class II Orissa Education Service in Government College, Bhawanipatna.
He availed the ICAR research fellowship and worked for a short period as a Junior Research Fellow in the Department of Botany, S.V. Univesity, Tirupati on the research scheme ‘Epidemiological aspects of bud necrosis disease of groundnut’. Subsequently availing USSR Govt. Scholarship joined Moscow State University in the then USSR and was awarded Ph.D. on the research project ‘Role of Lipids of boil smut of maize on gallgenesis’ in 1989. He joined as a Lecturer in the P.G. Department of Botany in 1981 and became Reader in 1991. He passed away in 1995.
His research interests are in the field of Mycology, plant pathology and Microbiology. He had presented about 25 research papers in various National and State Level Conferences and symposia and published many research papers. Three students had been awarded M. Phil under his guidance. He was a resource personnel in the summer course in Biology on UGC sponsored refresher course in Botany. Jointly working as a co-investigator in the research scheme ‘Enumeration and characterisation of Mycoflora in the Mangrove vegetation and its impact on seed quality’.
