He was a book lover, an avid reader, a passionate teacher, and a committed believer and practitioner of Gandhian thought and action.

His erudition was legendary.

Truthfulness was an obsession with him.

He believed that a person’s true worth depends on his contribution towards social transformation.

Riches mattered little unless they contributed to socio-economic changes.

His spiritual character stood out in a materialistic society.

He often quoted Richard B. Gregg and said that when a caterpillar ceased to exist as a caterpillar, it lived on as a butterfly.

He believed that material prosperity without moral and spiritual values leads to a moral vacuum.

He argued that mere accumulation of wealth does not bring true happiness or welfare.

He criticised greed, selfishness, and excessive pursuit of material comforts.

He believed that uncontrolled materialism weakens human values and damages the moral foundation of society.

He opined that the race for material prosperity reduces human creativity, reflection, and inner growth.

In his book *”The Socialist Thought of Mahatma Gandhi”*, he emphasised the need for balanced development of human personality.

He believed that true civilisation should develop a person materially, intellectually, and spiritually.

As a practicing Gandhian, he strongly believed in the harmony between ends and means.

He believed that noble ends cannot be achieved through ignoble means.
