  • Assistant Professor (Applied Microbiology), P.G. Department of Botany, Utkal University. (2025-continuing)
  • Project Assistant- II, CSIR–Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT), Bhubaneswar (February 2019 – May 2022)

Dr. B. S. Manisha Singh worked as a Project Assistant at the CSIR–Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT), Bhubaneswar, from February 2019 to May 2022 under the research project entitled “Phytoremediation of Radioactive Elements (Cs-137 and Sr-90) from Contaminated Soil and Water.” The project was funded by the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB), Mumbai, in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam. During this period, she was actively involved in screening and evaluating terrestrial and aquatic hyperaccumulator plant species for their potential in radionuclide remediation. Her research focused on understanding the uptake, accumulation, translocation, and tolerance mechanisms of cesium and strontium in selected plant species under controlled and field conditions. She contributed to the development of eco-friendly and site-specific phytoremediation strategies for radionuclide-contaminated environments and participated in remediation studies relevant to Indian nuclear power plant sites, including Narora, Kudankulam, and Kalpakkam. Her work generated valuable insights into the use of plant-based technologies for the sustainable management and restoration of radioactively contaminated ecosystems.

Agricultural Microbiology and pathology, Medical microbiology, Industrial Microbiology, Microbial physiology , Microbial genetics, Environmental microbiology

Dr. B. S. Manisha Singh has published several research articles and book chapters in reputed national and international journals and edited volumes in the fields of environmental biotechnology, phytoremediation, radioecology, microbial ecology, and environmental management. Her research contributions primarily focus on the remediation of radionuclide-contaminated environments, plant–microbe interactions, ecological restoration, and sustainable remediation technologies.
